The incident has raised significant concerns about the safety of the island and its potential to harbor hidden dangers that are not immediately apparent to visitors.

Wells was last seen alive on July 4th, partying with friends, but his body was discovered two days later by a park ranger near the shore. Initially, the authorities classified his death as an accidental drowning, but public outcry and demands for a thorough investigation pressured them to revisit the case. Friends and locals who have visited the island warn of the unpredictable and dangerous rip currents that can quickly turn a fun outing into a fatal one.

An eyewitness, Brian Thrasher from the United Cajun Navy, reported seeing the teenager’s body on the beach without signs of waterlogging, which raises further doubts about the nature of his death.
