Nigeria's 2026 Appropriation Bill allocates ₦2.48 trillion for health out of a total budget of ₦58.47 trillion, amounting to 4.2%. This falls short of the 15% target set by African governments in the 2001 Abuja Declaration. The recently concluded World Health Summit in Berlin emphasized that health spending is an investment in resilience, not merely an expense. Nigeria must increase its health budget to bolster its economic infrastructure and ensure its citizens' well-being.
